Environment
The Oxinia Group embraces the concept that businesses should take a leading role in minimising their impact on the Environment. Oxinia acknowledges its own environmental impact and is now actively working towards an environmentally friendly space in its headquarters and at its associated group company offices. The fundamental principle is that Oxinia is committed to best environmental practice with particular reference to:
- Reducing CO2 emissions and to minimise our CO2 impact
- Creating greener personal and business travel initiatives for employees
- Recycling material wherever possible
- Reducing printing and paper usage
- Dramatically cutting down the use of plastic bags
- Ensuring energy conservation and prioritise energy efficiency
- Reducing the amount of waste created
- Operating in a manner which is socially responsible
In order to achieve these aims, we have implemented company directives including specific policies relating to office waste and energy conservation. Oxinia will:
- Consider environmental consequences of decision making in the longer term.
- Work together to achieve ‘green’ results.
- Establish targets to achieve through personal environmental practice.
- Create ongoing employer awareness to the project and policy.
- Encourage ‘green practice’ across the Group.
- Monitor our environmental performance.
- Ensure commitment from all staff.
Waste Organisation & Disposal
During the conduct of our operations we make use of a range of natural and man-made resources. Oxinia appreciates the environmental benefits of reducing the consumption of these resources and encourages our staff to seek alternative options and make use of recycling initiatives wherever they may be practical.
Office waste is segregated on each floor into ‘Paper’ and ‘General’ bins. These bins are emptied regularly by the cleaners. The recyclable paper based material is transferred to a special locked container on site which is collected by a specialist third-party contractor. That company for security reasons shreds the material and passes it to paper producers for recycling. A separate container also on site is for general waste and this is collected regularly by a separate company for disposal. Waste Transfer Notes are signed in accordance with the Duty of Care; Environmental Protection Act 1990 and regular statements of activity are maintained.
Energy Conservation
All computers, printers, lights and other electrical equipment are turned off at the end of the working day (computers are on standby until the automatic back-up takes place). Central heating radiators have thermostatically controlled valves installed to regulate temperature on a local basis. Regular checks are made in the marketplace to see if alternative cost effective energy saving devices have become available.
Environmentally friendly initiatives are also encouraged in the use of low energy lighting, insulation of offices and in the type of vehicles available in our company car fleet.
